Want You're Friends to Like EDM, Too? Bring Them Along to Shows!

Recently I got the chance to introduce my friends into my world of EDM. These girls had never been to a rave before and didn't really listen to the music. We were all interested in hanging out outside of school and they wanted to go out, but were too young to take to a bar. My suggestion was to go to an 18+ show. 

Now I am not the hugest fan of house music, but the only event that was happening that weekend was a house show. I took girls from school with me who had never been to an EDM show in their life, before. They were a bit weirded out by the crowd and the type of people that were at the show, but overall they had a good time. Mostly they asked questions like, "Why are people dressed [in rave wear] like that?" 

They enjoyed the house show so much, they were excited to go to another EDM show. The next show I took them to was a Halloween dubstep show. We all dressed up and doused ourselves in glitter. They also decided that they liked this show much more than the house show. I think they personally enjoyed the head banging and insane bass. 

Finally, the Halloween weekend was not over, and there were more shows to go to. This time, I took them to a Morgan Page and Seven Lions show. We prepared by decorating rave bras. The best thing about this show was that there were several smaller stages set up for smaller named DJs with different types of music in each room. There was a house stage, a dubstep stage, a hardstyle stage, and a progressive stage. There was a selection of music for everyone! They thoroughly enjoyed this show and have started to become acculturated to the rave scene. 

Now, my friends are excited to go to more shows with me. I turned a bunch of my rave virgin friends into ravers! EDM is all about sharing your passion for the music and having fun. If your friends don't rave, but you want them to rave with you, just invite them along! Chances are they will fall in love with the scene, too!
